Component materials for piston pumps are selected based on wear and contact with the type of media. Component materials include bronze, brass, steel, stainless steel, iron, nickel alloys or other materials. For example, piston pumps operating in general service or oil service applications typically have iron cylinders and plungers. The plunger, discharge valve, and suction valve are in contact with the transferred media, and material selection is based on the transferred fluid. Solid ceramic plungers can be used when in contact with water and oil in power applications requiring a continuously operating piston pump, but may not be suitable for use with highly acidic media types.

During and shortly after operation, there is a risk of burns from the axial piston units (especially the solenoids). Take appropriate safety measures (e.g. wearing protective clothing).
The characteristics of the axial piston units may change due to different operating conditions (operating pressure, oil temperature).

Application of plunger pump

The primary function of a plunger pump is to convert mechanical energy input from an external source into pressurized energy via the prime mover. It transmits energy to the hydraulic system in the form of pressure or flow.
